Hello, I’m Caroline Surtees and I’m the managing director of Olive Grove Centre of Early Learning as well as the founder of Imitikula Empanga WA – The shrubs of today are trees of tomorrow.
I’ve been working with children for more than 10 years, which includes experience as a Lecturer, Mentor and an Assessor in Early Childhood Education.
As a mother of two boys, I am constantly challenged and inspired. This drives me to provide the best opportunity for every child who attends Olive Grove Centre of Early Learning in order to better the future not only of my children but OUR children.
My view of childcare/early childhood education
Early learning is a fundamental part of a child’s development. I believe that children have so much to offer and learn from each other, from adults and vice versa. This exchange of learning needs to happen in an environment that has an adult who is supportive and nurturing, a willingness to learn from children as they unfold their genuineness and raw ideas and skills.
I advocate for the industry of early childhood education and care ensuring that the essence of early learning, educators and the families are valued and appreciated.
Our children need safer communities that embrace diversity appreciate and value the fact that children need US and adults and a community to support and nurture their wellbeing. To me, being an educator isn’t a job that everyone can do or take lightly. It is a calling to better the foundation of our future generation.
Early childhood education and care is a foundation that offers readiness for school and the future of your child. It is just as important as any educational phase that one will undergo. Early childhood is a fundamental aspect of life – remember, one can’t build a house without a foundation.
